The 2017 Dickens Challenge was

"Rugs For Your Mugs"  

and used the fabric shown.

A Rug For Your Mug
    I could have made a bigger quilt,
    I’m willing and I’m able
    But instead I made this tiny quilt
    To save your lovely table.
    So when you are drinking something hot
    And want to rest your mug
    Remember that your special cup
    Now has it’s own little rug.

What is a Mug Rug you ask. “A small, fun to create, mini quilt that is mostly there to look pretty on your table or desk and to soak up your drink of choice’s drips and condensations, as well as giving you permission to eat some cookies, since that extra space off to the side of your drink is just there for you to use.”         (quote from Two More Seconds.)

So, there you have it, a Mug Rug is not a coaster, it is more than that. This modern day creation is an excuse to play with some scraps to make something small and unique for someone else or for you. The size of your Mug Rug should be no more than 12” by 12”.
